Sp3ctrum Cosmetics Review

1 Feb

I was presented with the opportunity to try out a few eyeshadow pigments from Sp3ctrum Cosmetics. Not knowing too much about them I was thrilled to be able to try new products from a company that may not be new but was new to me. I learned right away that they use only natural ingredients in ALL their products. No bismuth oxychloride!! I also loved that Sp3ctrum Cosmetics is very hands on, very personable and seem to love communicating with fellow makeup junkies. Go follow them on twitter! @Sp3ctrumDotCom I was surprised to see that they also offer customized shades including glimmers, shimmer, sparkle, iridescent colors, etc! So exciting!! Such a great option for those who want to surprise a special someone who seems to have everything when it comes to makeup!

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, I was sent these adorable “Duo Sweetheart Box Sets”. In each set there are two unique pigments that compliment one another. When I opened the package I was not expecting the cute heart boxes… Adorable! Each shadow comes with a sifter and protective sticker. This is great in itself as we know that sometimes pigment jars can become open or loose and spill while in transit. Personally I prefer to remove the sifters but I do appreciate them being available. The labels are simple but come in a precious shade of purple with their logo and website printed on them. On the bottom you’ll also find a white sticker with the name of the shadow, collection and ingredient list which I LOVE! The 5 gram jars are full of silky pigment and just about filled to the top! Dream Love: Violet with green iridescence Panda: Muted deep ivory purple
Be Mine: Soft candy green Sugar Lips: Soft shimmery ivory purple

I decided to use a base (MAC Painterly PP) and a mixing medium (MAC as well) to create swatches. You’ll see that the colors are much more vivid and vibrant when used wet. Sugar Lips and Panda are definitely my faves out of this group. Sugar Lips is such a great highlight color and has such a unique blend of shimmer that is hard to resist!
On my eyes I am wearing all 4 colors dry (although “Be Mine” is used sparingly on the lower lashline) with Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer underneath. I did not have any problems with these shadows creasing or fading on my lids. However, while I used a base on my hand I did not use a primer. You can see that the dry row has faded almost completely while the wet row is still visible. Make sure you use a primer with these to make them longer-lasting!

Overall I found that these shadows were easy to use and blended quite nicely. They did fade without the use of a primer but with loose shadows that is usually the case. These shadows are up to par with the rest of my favorite small mineral shadow companies and are definitely staying in my collection. These colors (and much more!) are available at SP3CTRUM.COM

The Duo Sweetheart Beauty Box Sets are $14. Click here for more colors! They offer a variety of pigments and even palettes! Get your hands on them while you can.

I received these items to try and share my experience and thoughts on the products. I do not get paid to do so, and neither is the review influenced in anyway. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.
